At the age of 23, the Swiss Ulysse Nardin founded the company that bears his name in 1846 and settled in Le Locle.
In the early 1900's Ulysse Nardin produced chronometers and astrological watches for the Russian and Japanese Navy. Traditionally, the brand has a special bond with maritime activities. This is clearly reflected in the logo, where the anchor has a central position. Today, Ulysse Nardin is renowned for its complicated mechanical timepieces and sometimes very special dials with large digits.
